What is the difference between dry cleaning and steam cleaning?

What is the difference between dry-cleaning and steam cleaning?

Keeping clean is not a matter of hygiene, care also aims to keep all your assets in top condition and extend their useful life. In this post, we will know the main differences between dry cleaning and steam cleaning

When you buy upholstery, keeping up to date on cleaning makes all the difference and saves you a lot of worries. After all, something that is well cared for is less likely to deteriorate. Ignoring the need to clean as often as necessary can cause damage.

When you don’t clean often, the dirt that ends up hurting the upholstery and even causing respiratory and allergic problems for those who frequent the environment.

In some environments, cleaning becomes even more important, such as hospitals, clinics and ambulances. Keeping these places clean represents not only are but also a duty to maintain the health and safety of all.

To find the ideal way to clean each surface, you need to know the existing options, their differences and which one is ideal for each need. In this context, many people imagine that steam and dry cleaning are similar – if not equal – which is a big mistake.

Dry cleaning

This technique does not use water, but specific products to remove dirt without having to wet the surface. The application of substances is usually performed with microfiber cloths or flannel, which endanger the painting of a car or even preventing the cleaning of deeper layers of upholstery or pillows.

The big issue with dry cleaning is the care it demands. The use of chemical solvents for sanitation makes it necessary to wait a while after sanitizing, so that there is no risk that people will breathe chemical components, causing health damage.

Steam cleaning

When it comes to poisoning hazards, steam washing has a bonus: it’s safe. This type of cleaning uses steam produced by water condensation. The temperature reached by this steam confers a great power to remove dirt, including microorganisms that may be harmful to health.

The ease with which steam can reach deeper layers of the surface is also an interesting point. As the steam is less dense, its permeability in the upholstery is higher, making cleaning easier.

Steam cleaning has a shorter drying time than conventional soap and water cleaning, and also uses a much smaller amount of water resource. The use of chemicals is not required as steam can clean almost all the dirt, leaving the use of chemicals only for tough stains.

Carpet stains can look like dirt and chaos to even the cleanest, most organized homes. So, it is common for people to ask how to remove these carpet stains so that the environment looks clean and fresh. Removing stains can be difficult as some types of substances make marks harder to remove than others. So, how to remove stains on the carpet?

In this article, you can use a solution to remove some of the most difficult stains. These methods work for most cases, but you should be aware that stain removal also depends on your carpet type. Remember to follow your carpet care instructions to avoid damage.

Stain removing red wine

Red wine stains on carpets should be removed as soon as possible to prevent permanent infiltration of the fabric. Use a clean cloth to absorb the stain immediately.  After absorbing the excess, apply a remover, always testing first in a small area, and let it act for a while.

Then remove the product with a sponge and warm water. For light carpets, apply a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda to the stain.  Let the mixture work for about five minutes and then rinse with water. Vinegar can also be used for red wine stains. Apply some vinegar to the stain and add laundry detergent over it. Leave the stain soaked in the mixture and then remove the solution with water.

We are always worried about cleaning something in our homes such as clothes or bed, table and bath and other items that also need special care like cleaning carpets.

Carpets and upholstery are also part of our daily cleaning routine, avoiding the yellowing of the fabric, as well as the accumulation of dust and other types of dirt that can bring health problems to residents. To solve this problem, Method Floors Solutions expert gives tips on how often such parts need to be cleaned.

Upholstery Cleaning

For upholstery, for example, the basic recommendation is to wash at least twice a year. But if the house has pets and children, or  dusty space, the frequency may increase to once a month. The same goes for the pillow covers, which help make up the decor of the room.

The same goes for pillowcases, which help to make up the decoration of the room. “After washing these items, it is good to open the windows every day, letting the sun in to make the environment airy,” explains Rodrigo Figueiredo.

Carpet Cleaning

About carpets, care should be increased, especially if residents do not have the habit of taking off their shoes when they arrive from the street. This is because this type of piece accumulates a large number of fungi and bacteria as it is a place where people walk.

Also, washing will depend on the type of material manufactured. Heavier ones, for example, can be washed twice a year by different procedures that vary according to composition. Lighter carpets, usually those in the bathroom or kitchen, can be cleaned monthly to prevent disease.

Handy Tips to Keep Your Floor Tiles Looking Their Best

Handy Tips to Keep Your Floor Tiles Looking Their Best

Tile Cleaning
When it comes to choosing the right flooring for your home or commercial property, there are many choices such as wood, tiles, laminate or carpet–all which have their benefits. Generally, tiles are the traditional hard surface choice for the likes of kitchens, bathrooms, entrance ways, etc., but, in recent years our team at Method Floors Solutions Gold Coast has seen a marked increase in their popularity for a number of reasons.

  • Durability/Lifespan – with proper installation and care tiles can last for 20 years plus. Ceramic and porcelain tiles are two of the best types to choose from. They are perfect for high traffic areas and are very resilient when it comes to withstanding spillages and wear. If a tile is cracked or chipped, it can be replaced quite easily without affecting the rest of the floor area.

  • Low Maintenance – Tile cleaning is as easy as regularly sweeping, vacuuming or mopping the floors without the need for harsh chemicals.

  • Environmentally Friendly – they are a natural insulating component in your home, i.e.cool in summer and warm in winter. With regular care tiles remain free of allergens such as dust, pollen, and dirt, making them the ideal choice for people who suffer from asthma and allergies.

Having highlighted some of the main benefits of floor tiles, we need to acknowledge that they really do take a hammering, especially in high traffic areas. By following some simple steps, you can ensure your tiles retain their shine and luster for many years to come.

Regular cleaning: As mentioned above, vacuum or sweep tiles to keep dust and debris off the floor. When there’s spillage, immediately wipe and clean with a sponge and soap and water mixture to avoid potential staining from happening.

Grout – this is a special mortar that joins tiles together. Contrary to the tiles themselves, the grout tends to fade and stain faster. If not maintained properly, water and grime can seep through the grout and cause damage. When it comes to cleaning, some folk like to DIY and research the internet for grout cleaning recipes, however, we would strongly recommend that you be very careful and spot check to avoid the risk of damaging your tiles or grout.

We have a better solution. Why spend your valuable time scrubbing floors all day when you can contact us at Method Floor Solutions, the tile cleaning experts. We have the right equipment and techniques to bring your tiles and grout back to their former glory within hours. In addition to tile cleaning Gold Coast, our range of services include carpet steam cleaning, upholstery and mattress steam cleaning plus much more. MFS About

Why Choose a Professional Carpet Cleaning Service?

Why Choose a Professional Carpet Cleaning Service?

Carpet Cleaning

Many Australians love to DIY around the home in an effort to both save money and feel the satisfaction of doing the job themselves. However, when it comes to carpet cleaning the process can take a lot of time and energy and there’s no guarantee you will get the quality result you are expecting.

To avoid the hassle, we strongly recommend you consider employing the services of carpet cleaning companies Gold Coast. Method Floors Solutions has been servicing the Gold Coast region since 2008, providing quality carpet steam cleaning solutions to achieve a high-quality finish at an affordable price. For more information, click here to view our full range of cleaning services, including tile cleaning, upholstery cleaning and commercial carpet cleaning Gold Coast and more!

The Process

A Method Floors Solutions technician will inspect your carpet to ascertain whether it needs to be cleaned with a soap and water mix or a special chemical solution. The steam carpet cleaning extraction method is recognised by many carpet manufacturers as the most effective carpet cleaning process. The steam cleaning machine works by propelling the hot water solution onto the carpet at high pressure which allows dirt and grime to loosen up as the vacuum sucks the dirty water back up into the machine, leaving your carpet looking fresh and as good as new.

Stain Removal

Stains and dirty marks have a considerable effect on the overall look and condition of a room. DIY-ing stain removal may work, however our technicians at MFS understand the science behind stain removal and can select the right chemical agent for even the toughest of stains.

Hygiene

Avoid the nasties! While a regular vacuum cleaner is fine for everyday cleaning it cannot remove the billions of dust particles and allergens that build up within the carpet fibres; often exuding an unpleasant odour and causing health-related issues. A regular professional carpet cleaning regime is the best solution for keeping your home or business looking clean and hygienic.

Pros & Cons

Having your carpets cleaned regularly is an important service that helps to keep your home safe from disease-causing microorganisms and maximises the life of your carpet. Whilst we aren’t saying DIY-ing is not commendable, it’s important to be aware of the possible risks such as applying the wrong chemicals to your specific carpet, using an incorrect machine or method, failing to dry the carpet properly or the overuse of chemicals, leaving residue in the carpet.

So, why spend a whole day (or two!) carpet cleaning, when you can call in a professional carpet cleaning service. Our team at Method Floors Solutions will clean your carpet in a matter of hours – efficiently and effectively. Contact us today to book a service, ph. 0422 097 074 or Book Online.
